Kuala Lumpur, June 30th 2015: Summit, a Malaysian-based education startup, with operating presence in Singapore, has just won the ASEAN Outstanding Business Awards 2015.

The ASEAN Outstanding Business Awards (AOBA) was recently held in Malaysia at The Shangri La Hotel. Attended by prominent members of the business community, ambassadors and corporate leaders, the award serves as an platform to showcase outstanding business practitioners in ASEAN plus China, Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand and India.

Based on the criteria of leadership, innovation, strategic direction and influence, the awards were also presented to business entities which display outstanding performance and have shown significant progress in establishing and reinforcing their position in the international business arena in their respective industries.

In its fifth year, the ASEAN Outstanding Business Awards has been held yearly to further acknowledge market leaders and brands for their commitment to the community, ethical behavior and environmental sustainability.

Past award winners include Tan Sri Tony Fernandez of AirAsia, Dato’ Sri Robert Wong of Oriental Holdings, Joanne Wong of IES Global Beijing, Hendy Setiono of Kebab Turki Baba Rafi Indonesia, PT Nalpia Indonesia, and more.

Notable award recipients of this year’s AOBA includes fashion magnate, Dato’ Jimmy Choo who received the ASEAN Lifetime Achievement Award.

The youngest recipient of this year’s AOBA, Mr. John Chong, Managing Director of Summit, says he is no stranger to pressure. When asked about being the youngest recipient, he said, “As a young entrepreneur or company, people expect you to fail. This is perfectly normal. You have to first be willing to take the hits and keep moving forward.”

Mr. Chong also says that the company plans to venture into other countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, India, Indonesia and the Philippines in the coming years.
